Service was 5/5. Very welcoming, accommodating, and friendly. Even helped us with directions after when we were standing outside.
Food was great too. It came out fast and they were very understanding when I asked for bacon that was less crispy. Also they had excellent cheesecake!
I would recommend this place if you're looking for a smaller owned restaurant -

Enter another dimension. The Twilight Zone of diners. Exit feeling like something was off.
New Amity Restaurant isn't new by any standards. It's definitely more of a throw-back to a bygone era and the name does give it an interesting vibe of, I don't know, a famous 1975 horror film about a certain town. The painted wooden engravings on the wall depict a small beach community - almost like a stock painting you'd see in someone's living room - with sailboat, buoy, and seagulls. However, there's no killer shark here. The wooden panels are classic.
I'm sure there aren't many places around like this one with the days of the NYC Diner/Deli nearing extinction. And being near the Met, it seems to be a popular spot in an otherwise bland area. But it was a memorable experience to say the least - old school waiters with accents from everywhere engaged in playful banter during meals with each other and customers. It did get a little annoying and slightly uncomfortable when the mostly, older male waiters start hitting on younger foreign female tourists.
Meals are typical. We ordered a BLT with pickles. Two cappuccinos (which never arrived) and a turkey club wrap which fell apart in my hand. The AC was on for a while and then just stopped. -

Quick and kind service, I ordered the grilled Chilean sandwich with fries. We were in a hurry to get our of the heat, so we chose this place on the fly.
3 stars for prompt service, however the food wasn't great. Specifically the fries didn't have any flavor and the chicken sandwich didn't have anything but lettuce on it. -

Ladies! Do not go to this restaurant unless you want to be cat called and harassed by the service staff. Came in for lunch and was overwhelmed by the amount of unwanted attention these men gave me. Not to mention the food was absolutely disgusting. I ordered a simple omelette with home fries. The omelette was very dry and had absolutely no flavor. No amount of salt and pepper could save this tragedy. The potato's looks as if it was smashed by a toddler and given to me. The price for this was astronomical for this disgusting food. I thought it would be a cute spot considering all the guests were older residents from the neighborhood. But nope! I'll never return again and I suggest you don't waste your time or money on this establishment.

Food was on pointe. Coffee was standard. Service was quick and attentive. A total local dive with lots of character. Ate a spinach and feta omelette and it was delicious! Hubby had the French toast--also a hit. Looking for a local joint? This hits the mark!
